Family Spat About Heat, Residency Leads to Charges

Concord Police arrest Jeanette Cordova and Luis Gonzales after incident on West Street.

Two people were arrested recently after one allegedly assaulted a police officer and another wouldn’t stop screaming.

Jeanette Cordova, 43, of West Street in Concord, was arrested at 12:12 a.m. on Nov. 30, on a simple assault charge. Also arrested was Luis Gonzales, 19, of West Street in Concord, on disorderly conduct and default or breach of bail conditions charges.

Police were sent to West Street for a report of someone breaking into a home.

When they arrived, they realized that it wasn’t a break-in since police had been there in the past for service calls. That night, it turned out, was between siblings about heat in the home and residency issues.

According to police, Cordova and another woman were yelling at Gonzales who was with his girlfriend and newborn.

“Several suggestions were offered to both (the woman) and Luis but neither accepted any suggestions,” according to the reporting officer.

Since all the issues were civil in nature, officers began to clear the scene for other calls while the family members were all yelling at each other and began calling each other names. Two officers remained, standing between all involve, in an effort to resolve the situation.

Gonzales was ordered to stop yelling or he would be arrested for disorderly conduct but he allegedly continued to yell.

Cordova reportedly was holding a phone and sometime during the argument, allegedly threw it at Gonzalez but it struck one of the officers in the leg instead.

“I heard Luis yell, ‘Ouch, she just hit me,’” the officer alleged. “This was not accurate. He was not hit with anything.”

Cordova was arrested and later, reportedly apologized, saying she didn’t mean to hit the officer.

Gonzalez allegedly continued to scream about the phone hitting him, which it didn’t, according to officers, and he was arrested.

Gonzalez, who was living on Boynton Street in Laconia at the time, was arrested at 1 a.m. on Nov. 20, for unlawful possession of alcohol at the Morning Star Apartments on Loudon Road. He was arrested after an officer patrolling the area and saw three people walking through the parking lot of Uno’s Car Wash who allegedly fled upon seeing the police car. The officer began searching the area and found Gonzalez in the apartment parking lot. He was allegedly intoxicated, “slurring his words” and was “unsteady on his feet.” He was later arrested.

Since he was out on bail from the alcohol charge, a breach of bail charge was added.

Both Cordova and Gonzalez are due in court on Jan. 5.
