Felon With ‘Violent Tendencies,’ A Quarter Of A Century Of Suspended Sentences, Wanted On Probation Violation

CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Corrections is asking for the public’s help in finding a long-time felon who is wanted on a probation violation.

Mario Lopez III is 48, Hispanic, about 6 feet, 1 inch tall, and weighs around 200 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair, though he is balding. A corrections alert noted he had previously used the aliases “Jose Diaz,” “Jose Perez,” and “Hector Rios.” Lopez has a tattoo of a cross on his left arm and a devil with a woman on his right shoulder.

The warrant was issued by the New Hampshire State Parole Board after he was accused of absconding from supervision in December 2025.

“Lopez has a lengthy criminal history that includes charges in both New Hampshire and New York, to include numerous narcotic possession offenses, thefts, assaults, stalking, sales of counterfeit drugs, drug sales, resisting arrest, hindering apprehension, multiple driving offenses, to include driving under the influence (DUI),” an alert stated. “Lopez’s current location is unknown, but he has ties to Berlin and Nashua, as well as the Bronx, New York.”

Corrections also issued a “violent tendencies” alert for Lopez’s status.

According to superior court records, Lopez’s criminal history dates back more than a quarter of a century, when he was accused of burglary-conspiracy and burglary-criminal liability for the conduct of another. The latter charge was nolle prossed as part of a plea deal on the first charge. He received a 12-month jail sentence, deferred for a year, but eight months later a motion was made to impose the sentence, and a hearing on restitution was held as well. More hearings were held in May 2003 and June 2005, after a violation of a court order was filed.

In 2004, Lopez was accused of theft by unauthorized taking and receiving stolen property after two incidents in Nashua. Two years later, he pleaded guilty to the property charge, receiving a 12-month sentence, all but 121 days suspended, and was required to pay CVS $272.24. The theft charge was nolle prossed.

In Hudson, in 2007, Lopez racked up acts prohibited, possession-sale of a narcotic drug, willful concealment, revocation, and theft charges after several incidents. He was also charged with receiving stolen property in Hudson and theft in Nashua in 2008.

Lopez pleaded guilty to the 2007 theft and acts prohibited charges and the 2008 Nashua theft charges in October 2008 and received three suspended 12-month sentences, probation for two years, and was ordered to pay Hannaford supermarket $126.50. Lopez was found to have violated probation in March 2011 on the drug charge and was given a one-to-three-year prison sentence.

In 2009, Lopez was charged with four felony counts of acts prohibited connected to incidents in 2008 in Nashua. He pleaded guilty to two of the charges in October 2009 and received two three-and-a-half-to-seven-year prison sentences, both suspended for three years.

Lopez, however, continued his crime sprees into 2010 when he was charged with unauthorized use, habitual, disobeying an officer, theft, all in Nashua, during three separate incidents. He pleaded guilty in March 2011 to several charges and received two 12-month and one-and-a-half-to-four-year sentences served concurrently with one 12-month sentence suspended.

In 2014, 2015, and 2016, Lopez was charged with habitual offender in Concord, acts prohibited in Manchester, and drug possession-subsequent in Manchester. In March 2016, he pleaded guilty to the habitual offender charge and received a two-to-five-year prison sentence, with three months of the minimum suspended for five years, and nine days of time-served credit. A month later, he pleaded guilty to the subsequent drug possession charge and received a three-to-six-year prison sentence and a $434 fine, all suspended for five years.

Lopez was charged with being a habitual offender in Berlin and driving under the influence, as well as two drug possession charges, after an incident in Salem in 2024. He pleaded guilty to all but one drug charge and received a two-to-five-year prison sentence suspended for four years upon completion of the FOCUS program, a one-and-a-half-to-three-year sentence suspended for three years, and a two-to-five-year prison sentence suspended for four years. He also received a $620 fine, payable with five days in jail, and a $620 fine suspended for four years.
