Former Franklin Resident Faces Murder Charge In Hooksett

HOOKSETT, NH — A former resident of Franklin has been arrested and charged with murder after being accused of killing a man in Hooksett.

Police arrested Dillion Sleeper, 26, on a single felony count of second-degree murder. He was accused of stabbing Jason Wirtz, 45, of Manchester, on Main Street in Hooksett with a knife.

Police were sent to the area of 66 Main St. at just after midnight for a report of a man down in the middle of the street. Wirtz was unresponsive and bleeding from the neck. He was taken to Elliot Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Sleeper is expected to be arraigned in Merrimack County Superior Court on Monday.

Michael Garrity, the director of communications for the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, said investigators are asking for witnesses who may have observed anyone walking on Main Street in Hooksett between Daniel Webster Highway and College Park Drive during the hours of 11:30 p.m. on Saturday to 1 a.m. on Sunday. Also, witnesses are being asked if they saw anyone who drive across the Main Street Bridge in Hooksett during that same period.
