GoFundMe Effort Launched To Save Quality Cash Market

Granddaughter of the Concord store's owner is attempting to stay afloat, pay taxes after roundabout construction at Exit 16 hits business.

CONCORD, NH — An online fundraising effort has been put together in an effort to keep a beloved East Concord business open. A GoFundMe.com fundraiser for Quality Cash Market on Eastman Street was launched by a family member of the owner last week to raise $50,000 to keep the store open. The store fell into foreclosure danger earlier this year and also reportedly owes the city tens of thousands of dollars in back taxes.

However, late in May, the store was able to fend off an auction and remain in business, according to press reports.

Construction at the new Exit 16 roundabout just off Eastman at the intersection of Mountain Road, Shawmut Street, East Side Drive, and I-93, has hurt business in recent weeks just as family members are attempting to stay afloat and pay the company's bills.

“We are asking for the community we have come to know and love to reach out and help us due to the construction on our road and up around the corner,” said Julianne Heath, a granddaughter of Tony Heath, the store's owner, online. “It’s been taking a toll on our business. We want Tony to leave his store he fought so hard to build up, the way he dreamed it and my great grandparents before him. We know you hear the talk of the town. But I can assure you. We tell our customers as much as we know – not only are you helping save the third generation, you’re also helping secure the future of the fourth generation. We are hoping to raise enough money to pay the back taxes on the property and just to put money away for the winter and to due to construction, we have not be able to maintain the store the way it should be for the convenience for our customers.”

Construction, according to city officials, is expected to last through October of this year.
