Greater Concord Chamber Of Commerce Seeks 2024 Citizen Of The Year Nominations
Friday is the deadline for the 2024 nominations for the Chamber. Know someone who should be feted? Here's how to submit their name and why.

CONCORD, NH — The Greater Concord Chamber Of Commerce is seeking Citizen of the Year nominations for 2024.
Since late last month, the org has been exhorting its members and the public for people who the Chamber should fete. Prior nominations who did not win but were nominated will also be considered this year. It is common, according to Bryanna Marceau, the vice president of operations and programs at the chamber, for people who were nominated previously but did not receive the award to have their nominations resubmitted.

During a discussion with Marceau about possible nominees, the name of Joe Kasper came up. Kasper, who died in July after a motorcycle accident in Concord, was an integral part of the community for many decades. Nominees, though, are not given out posthumously, she said.
“Joe is amazing,” she said. “It’s been a huge loss for all of Concord and the surrounding area. There are so many organizations he was a part of. We all really miss him … it was a tough day.”

But Kasper would be an example of a person who should be nominated: Someone who makes a difference in the greater Concord community, not just in their business lives but outside their careers, Marceau said.
“Overall, if I were to describe this award in a nutshell, an esteemed honor presented to an individual who exemplifies outstanding commitment to our community,” she said. “The recipient is a dedicated individual whose contributions have had a lasting impact over the years.”
Marceau said the selection committee looks at four criteria: contribution to enhancing the quality of life; exceptional ethical attributes and a commitment to preserving the community; remarkable citizenship and volunteer spirit spanning several years; and acting as a role model to others through leadership and actions.
Nominations will be accepted through Sept. 6.
Unlike past years, where the nominee was a surprise, the Chamber will announce the nomination beforehand.
The nominee will then be celebrated at the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce annual meeting on Nov. 6.
