Hazardous Materials Incident Cleared In Concord's Eagle Square
Update: Concord firefighters, EMTs were on the third floor of the stable building after chemicals in bottles broke inside a box and mixed.

CONCORD, NH — Concord firefighters and EMTs are in Eagle Square for a report of a chemical incident Thursday.
Firefighters were called to the stable building on the Storrs Street side on the third floor around 9:30 a.m. in the New Hampshire Office of Licensing and Board Administration. Before arriving, fire dispatch told firefighters they were being advised that someone was transporting small amounts of mercury and arsenic that spilled inside of a box.
When firefighters arrived, they spoke with an official who stated the box contained mercury, arsenic, and other unknown chemicals, in bottles, when one of the bottles broke and chemicals mixed. Everyone was evacuated from the building, command reported.

"It doesn't sound like there is a reaction or any health problems," a firefighter said. "We have gone in to further investigate."
Concord police had Storrs Street running one-way to allow for the fire command to set up on the back end of the building.

Interim Concord Fire Chief Guy Newbery said the box of assorted chemicals was damaged after it was moved and some of the chemicals mixed. The Central NH Hazmat Team was activated and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services was also called in.
"Fire department crews worked to identify the exact products involved and determine if there were re-activity issues," Newbery said in a statement Thursday. "The chemicals were identified and repackaged for proper disposal."
Firefighters cleared the scene around noon, Newbery said. Neither firefighters nor civilians were injured.
