Homeless Campfire Under Interstate 393 In Concord Quickly Knocked Down: Video

Concord fire and rescue teams extinguished a campfire Saturday afternoon not far from the Friendly Kitchen on South Commercial Street.

CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams quickly extinguished a homeless campfire underneath Interstate 393.

Just after 5:15 p.m., an officer speaking to someone at the Friendly Kitchen heard there was a fire under the bridge, not far from the soup kitchen, and requested firefighters come to check it out.

A second officer confirmed the fire was underneath I-393. Capital Region Fire Dispatch then sent firefighters to the scene.

The first arriving firefighters reported smoke billowing from underneath the bridge.

The fire commander reported that a tent and rubbish had caught on fire and were fully extinguished around 5:45 p.m.

Fire and rescue teams then cleared the scene. An officer added notes to the call and he and another officer went back to the Friendly Kitchen as part of a patrol directive, according to scanner chatter.
