HOOKSETT, NH — A local man is due in court next week to face a drunk driving charge after being accused of driving erratically on Hooksett Road last week. An officer driving south on Hooksett Road at just after 10 p.m. last Friday came across a Dodge Dakota in front of him having lane control issues and crossing over a yellow line at least once, according to Sgt. Mike Zappala of the Hooksett Police Department. The officer stopped the SUV and made contact with the driver – Lyle Belanger, 47, of Hooksett.

"While speaking with Belanger, the (officer) detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Belanger’s breath and he admitted to drinking alcohol prior to operating his vehicle," Zappala stated. "Belanger was asked to take standardized field sobriety tests which he agreed to and was subsequently arrested for DUI."

Belanger was transported to police headquarters and was asked to take a breath test. He allegedly refused, according to Zappala. On June 27, 2019, Belanger was charged with driving under the influence, open container, and yellow line violation. He was released on personal recognizance bail and is due in court on July 11.
