Household Hazardous Waste Day Deemed Successful
More than twice as many cars came out this year when compared to last year.

Sept. 27, was a hot, sunny, and beautiful day dedicated to household hazardous waste collection in the Capital City. The city held its annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event at the Douglas N. Everett Arena in an effort to help residents properly dispose of hazardous waste materials from their homes. Proper management of hazardous materials helps prevent potential contamination with groundwater, wastewater treatment systems, and other environments. The city contracted Tradebe Environmental Services to sort through the hazardous waste to ensure proper management.
“It was a phenomenally successful day,” said Adam Clark, Solid Waste Manager for the City of Concord.
The attendance this year was more than double from last year’s 204 cars to 523 cars.

“We were really excited to see the turn-out and to help contribute to proper disposal efforts,” said Clark.
Although there was increased attendance, residents moved quickly through the process of proving residency, taking a quick survey for New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, and then dropping off their hazardous waste. “People were smiling and happy to do their part – overall, there was a great vibe to the event,” Clark said.
