Ice Rescue Report Sends Concord Firefighters To Goodwin Point: Watch
Firefighters were sent to the Sewalls Falls Recreation Area after a person and a dog were reported in a pond but self-rescued themselves.
CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams checked two people who requested assistance after one fell through the ice near the Merrimack River while trying to get a dog out of the water on Wednesday.
Just before 12:30 p.m., fire and rescue teams were sent to the Sewalls Falls Recreation Area for an ice rescue request. Dispatch used the coordinates to find exactly where the caller was located. The information was sent to firefighters, and then the commander decided not to launch the boat since the caller appeared to not to be on the river but on a body of water, the pond surrounding Goodwin Point, near the railroad tracks away from the trail.
About 15 minutes into the call, firefighters learned a second person assisted the first person in getting out of the water and getting at least one dog out of the water, too.
