Update: City council, mayoral, school board candidates signup. Challengers emerge in two races. School candidate info session held Sept. 13.

CONCORD, NH — Filings for Concord’s municipal races began on Sept. 8, 2017, and run through next Monday and, if the current crop of candidates is any indication, it is going to be another sleepy election in the city in November. At the end of the filing period Monday for mayor and city council seats, all 10 incumbents had filed for re-election. Mayor Jim Bouley filed last week to run for his sixth two-year term leading the board.

At-large Councilors Amanda Grady Sexton and Fred Keach also filed again for four-year seats. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Concord NH Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

School Board Candidates

Only two candidates running for District seats to lead the Concord School District during the next three years have filed to run.

Incumbent Thomas Croteau is running for re-election to the District A seat which represents voters in Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4. Danielle Smith of Concord, a photographer who runs Rosy Hue Photography, has also signed up to run for the District A seat on Friday.

Barbara Higgins, the District B school board member, has indicated to Patch that she would also be running again this year for a three-year term.

Alana Kimball, who represents District C, announced on Monday night that she was not running for re-election.
