#LetBonnerShoot Vaults San Antonio Spur into the 3-Point Contest
Concord hometown b-ball boy gets his shot Feb. 16.

It’s official: Matt Bonner is going to get to shoot.
A social media effort to help San Antonio Spurs basketball player and Concord native into the 3-point Shootout at the All Star Game festivities later this month has succeeded.
The effort, prompted by a blog post by his brother, Luke Bonner, went viral across the country, including thousands of Tweets on Twitter and a Facebook fan site that reached more than 2,400 Friends and kept everyone up to date on the effort.

Earlier tonight (Feb. 7), a note was posted on the Facebook page that Bonner would be one of six players included in the contest.
The 3-Point Shootout will be held on Feb. 16, in Houston. The All-Star Game will be held on Feb. 17.

UPDATE: 8:19 p.m.
On the NBA.com Spurs site, Bonner wrote a short note thanking fans for helping him get into the contest:
"From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank everyone who supported me in getting selected to compete in the Three-Point Contest. Words cannot express how excited and honored I am to be a part of this event. I will do my best! Thank you!"
