Man Wanted On Stolen Vehicle Charge In North Carolina Arrested
Convicted felon Shane Berube, formerly of Hooksett, was arrested in Concord last month on a larceny charge from Rocky Mount, NC.

CONCORD, NH — An early morning "park and talk" by an officer led to the arrest of a man wanted in North Carolina on a stolen vehicle charge. Shane Berube, 31, with a last known address of Edgewater Drive in Hooksett, was arrested on May 9, 2019, on a felony fugitive of justice warrant. A Concord officer at around 4:30 a.m. on that day signed off on a "park and talk" – a form of community policing where an officer exits their cruiser and walks and chats with residents of a neighborhood – or, in this case, an employee at the 7-Eleven on South Main Street.
The officer saw a man he recognized from previous encounters – Berube – walking around in the store so he went back to his cruiser to check to see if he had active warrants. Dispatch reported that Berube was wanted on an extraditable warrant out of Rocky Mount, NC, on a larceny of a motor vehicle charge that was issued on April 28.
The officer went into the store and arrested Berube. He was processed and held. The next day, according to the state of New Hampshire, Berube was scheduled to meet with the state parole board.

According to a detective in North Carolina, Berube is accused of breaking into a woman's locker at a Planet Fitness in Rocky Mount and stealing the keys to her 2010 Jeep Liberty as well as other belongings. He then reportedly fled the scene with the vehicle. Police were able to connect the crime to Berube by examining video surveillance footage and login information, according to the detective, when he checked in to the facility using his own Planet Fitness account. The detective noted that Berube had not yet be extradited to the state.
At the time of the vehicle theft, Berube was out on his second parole after serving nearly nine years in prison after a home invasion in Concord in November 2008. Berube was arrested by police and charged with armed robbery and burglary after the incident on Airport Road, according to Foster's Daily Democrat. During the home invasion, a gun was reportedly pointed at a 7-year-old, WMUR-TV noted in its report. Three other people – Justin Blatsos, Kyle Digiore, and Jonathan Gelinas, all of Pembroke at the time – were also arrested on various charges.

A month before the home invasion arrest, Berube was charged by Laconia police for resisting arrest on one day and unlawful possession of a controlled drug on another day, online reports noted. Back on March 14, he was arrested in Bow on a bench warrant for negligent driving, according to that department's online crime report.
A spokesperson for the New Hampshire Department of Corrections stated that Berube was released on parole in 2018 but sent back to jail later on a violation. He was released again in February and was supposed be checking in with his parole officer but reportedly hadn't. There is an active warrant for Berube's arrest, she noted.
