Marshals Nab Two NH Fugitives of the Week
The task force bagged Randall Root hiding in the woods of Alton and Randell Peters – as well as a third person – in an apartment in Dover.
CONCORD, NH — Two recent New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force Fugitives of the Week in the Granite State were arrested on Oct. 20, 2016, in different parts of the state, according to U.S. Marshals. Randall Root, 27, who was wanted for failure to appear on two separate burglary warrants was arrested in Alton while Randell Peters, 24, who was wanted on a Rockingham County arrest warrant for failure to appear on a heroin sales charge was arrested in Dover.

According to Deputy Marshal Jeffrey White, not long after he was featured as a fugitive, marshals received tips that Root might be camping in Alton. The task force, including members from Belknap County Sheriff’s Office, Greenfield Police Department, deputy U.S. Marshals along with the Alton Police Department, searched a wooded area in that town and were able to locate Root and arrest him without incident.

“In addition to the outstanding arrest warrants, Root was in possession of a variety of narcotics,” White noted. “The Alton Police Department will be pursuing criminal charges against Root for the illegal possession of these drugs. Root was transported to the Belknap County Jail for processing pending his initial court appearances."
Peters was featured on as a fugitive yesterday and White stated that marshals received “numerous tips” that he was hiding out in an apartment on Belknap Street in Dover. Marshals along with Strafford and Rockingham County Sheriffs and Dover Police went to the apartment to look for Peters this afternoon.

“The team responded to a Belknap Street apartment, where Peters was immediately seen fleeing through the apartment, but was quickly apprehended,” White alleged. “Mr. Peters was transported to the Rockingham County Jail for processing and holding on his outstanding warrant.”
At the apartment, there reportedly were a number of people and during the process of investigating the scene, another person, Brian Humphrey, 44, of Rochester, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
“The US Marshals Fugitive Task Force is grateful to have the support of the public, the media and our federal, state, county and local law enforcement partners,” White said in a statement. “These two arrests are proof that the Fugitive of the Week program is a worthwhile endeavor and often leads to the quick and safe arrests of these fugitives. Thank you all for your tremendous support.”
Since Oct. 18, more than 6,500 arrests have been made by the Joint Fugitive Task Force.
