CONCORD, NH — A Massachusetts woman was arrested on numerous charges accused of assault, attempted felony assault, and pulling a fire alarm on Fisherville Road last month.

Police were sent to the Meadowbrook Apartments for a disturbance at around 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 5 involving a woman who assaulted another woman, threatened a second woman, spat at a man, scratched another man, and now, would not leave. Officers arrived and heard the fire alarm ringing in the building, for an unknown reason at the time. They spoke to three people, all known due to prior contacts, who were yelling at a woman, identified later as Jada Depina, 23, of State Street in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

The three accused Depina of “assaulting everyone in the apartment” and that she “needed to leave.” The reporting officer accused Depina of “stumbling as she walked” and smelling like alcohol.

During questioning, Depina said she met one of the women on Tinder and they were hanging out, according to an affidavit. She was picked up a few hours before and they were supposed to “chill.” However, when she got to the apartment, she accused the complainants of being “rude” and acting that way because they were “jealous” of her, an affidavit stated. She claimed, at one point, an older woman began getting “aggressive toward her,” and she wanted to leave so she asked for a ride or a taxi, the report stated. Depina then accused the older woman of kicking her in the stomach.

When asked if she had any marks or bruises, she said, no, and refused treatment from EMTs, too, the report noted.

Later, Depina admitted to pulling the fire alarm in the building but gave no reason why, the affidavit stated.

The officers then spoke to the complainants and witnesses. The woman explained she met Depina online and they agreed to hang out. However, after picking her up, they accused Depina of “being very loud, threatening, and intoxicated,” and not having any self-control.

The man accused Depina of spitting on her and grabbing him in the neck, showing police a scratch. He also accused Depina of ripping up posters, punching a door, and pulling a blade out of her bracelet, and threatening the older woman with it. The man also accused Depina of trying to stab the older woman and was told to leave. The older woman pushed Depina and two others held her back to keep her from slicing the older woman, the affidavit stated.

The man then demonstrated for police what happened and Depina’s supposed motions with the blade.

Officers spoke to other witnesses and the stories all pretty much matched with them claiming Depina arrived at the apartment, began screaming and throwing stuff around, and even stated she would, “kill everyone here,” one said, according to the affidavit.

A roommate in the apartment was also questioned and she claimed that while getting ready for bed, she heard yelling and screaming and heard the assault and spitting accusation, too.

The officers checked the arm of one of the complainants and found a “small, superficial laceration,” about an inch long, and then, requested to see the knife. One of the complainants found it in a room and gave it to officers. The blade, the officer wrote, was exposed and could only be opened by a clasp release mechanism.

The officers then spoke to Depina about the bracelet blade.

“I asked Jada if she knew the bracelet had a knife in it and she said she did know that,” the report stated. “I asked Jada where the knife was and she said probably still in one of the bedrooms. Jada said the knife likely just fell off her wrist.”

When asked why the blade was exposed when the officer examined it, “she was not able to explain why” but “denied ever threatening anyone with the knife.”

After taking written statements, Depina was arrested on criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and attempted second-degree assault, all felonies, as well as simple assault, criminal mischief, and false fire alarm.

Depina was processed and held in the Merrimack County Jail. She was arraigned on Oct. 5 in Merrimack County Superior Court and held on preventive detention. Depina was released on Oct. 12 and had another court appearance on Oct. 21. Depina is due back in court for a dispositional conference on Jan. 10, 2022.
