CONCORD, NH — A homeless felon, formerly of Concord and Pembroke, with a long criminal history, died Tuesday after a medical event at the Valley Street Jail in Manchester.

Marc Cincotta, who was held at the Valley Street Jail on preventive detention, died at Elliot Hospital around 5:15 a.m. He died “following a medical event” at the jail, according to Joseph Costanzo, the superintendent of the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections.

Cincotta, 63, was awaiting trial on criminal threatening, stalking, witness tampering, and breach of bail charges since March 15. Before that, he was arrested in October 2022, accused of stabbing a man at a Queen City homeless camp. He was ultimately charged with first-degree assault, two felony counts of a felon possessing a deadly weapon, and possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute charges.

Manchester Information reported Cincotta was released from the jail on personal recognizance earlier this month, agreeing to enter a treatment program. Instead, he was accused of jumping out of a transport vehicle and then, confronting a man he had previously assaulted inside a restaurant. Cincotta was then hauled back to jail.

According to dispatch logs, EMTs were sent to the jail at 5:12 a.m. to assist with a “serious hemorrhage” call.

“After initial review surrounding the facts of this incident, it was determined not to be suspicious in nature,” Costanzo said. “On behalf of myself and the staff at HCDOC our condolences go out to the family.”

According to posts on Patch, Cincotta previously lived in homeless camps in Concord. He also resided in Pembroke.

Prior arrests, including a dozen cases in superior courts in New Hampshire, include theft and stolen property charges, drug possession, pistols & revolvers; convicted felons, several driving under the influence counts, conduct after an accident, escape, habitual offender, and second-degree assault charges.
