New Evidence: Missing NH Girl May Have Disappeared After Eviction

Investigators narrow the window of Harmony Montgomery's disappearance to 12 days in 2019 when the family was living in cars in Manchester.

CONCORD, NH — The timeline for when a missing New Hampshire girl may have disappeared has been narrowed by investigators attempting to find the missing 7-year-old girl.

The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and Manchester police said on Monday new evidence pointed to Harmony Montgomery disappearing sometime between Nov. 28, and Dec. 10, 2019, after the family was evicted from the 77 Gilford St. home in Manchester they were living in. The home has been the location of two separate evidence sweeps since December 2021 when police became involved with the case. The family was evicted from the home on Nov. 27, 2019. At the time, Adam and Kayla Montgomery, their two children, and Harmony, Adam’s daughter, were all living together.

“Multiple individuals have reported seeing Harmony with Adam and Kayla in the following days,” Jesse O’Neill, an assistant attorney general, said. However, by approximately Dec. 6 to Dec. 10, 2019, “Adam and Kayla apparently had only their two common children, and Harmony was no longer with them.”

This change in the timeline has led investigators to suspect Harmony Montgomery disappeared sometime after the eviction but before early December 2019.

“Witnesses have reported that during that time, Adam, Kayla, and the children were homeless and living out of cars, possibly in the North End of Manchester,” O’Neill said. “One of the cars was a silver 2010 Chrysler Sebring, and the other was a dark blue 2006 Audi S4.”

The attorney general’s office released stock photos of the cars. The actual condition of the cars was “worse than depicted” in the photos. The Sebring’s rear license plate was also askew.

The new information was released a couple of hours after O’Neill requested a Hillsborough County Superior Court North judge hold Kayla Montgomery without bail after being arraigned on felony theft and welfare fraud charges. During the hearing, he noted there was at least one witness challenging Kayla Montgomery’s comment to investigators that Harmony Montgomery’s father took her to live with her birth mother, at her home in Massachusetts, after Thanksgiving 2019.

The judge said she would make a decision about bail later in the day.

Adam Montgomery is being held on felony second-degree assault and other charges connected to an incident where he was accused of assaulting the girl in 2019.

Police in Manchester have an active 24-hour tip line dedicated to the case: 603-203-6060. Investigators are now asking anyone who may have seen or interacted with the family during the late November to early December timeframe or who saw either of the cars the family may have been living out of to contact police.

“Any information, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, may contribute to the overall investigation,” O’Neill said.
