NH Boy Sets 5K World Record
Aidan Cox of Northwood set the record at last weekend's SEA/SEIU Local 1984 5K in Concord, a benefit for the Operation Santa Claus program.

CONCORD, NH - A local boy, with a previous running record, set another one last weekend at the 23rd Annual SEA/SEIU Local 1984 5K, according to Runner’s World magazine.
Aidan Cox, 10, of Northwood, clocked in a 17.24 on April 2, 2016, during the Concord road race after previously setting the best time in the world for 9-year-olds, 18:03 last year, according to the report. His parents said they didn’t tell him because he enjoys running and they didn’t want him to worry about the times or setting records, according to the article.
Aidan comes from a family of runners – his dad coaches at Coe-Brown Academy and his sister, who is 13, also holds small school cross country records in the Granite State.

The Operation Santa Claus program, which has been around for more than five decades, had a setback last year after a break-in at the state’s Department of Transportation building, losing thousands of dollars in donated gifts and gifts cards. Arrests were later made in the case, and volunteers and companies pitched in to make sure that kids in the state received their gifts.
