NH Fugitive Arrested In Maine During Burglary Attempt: Marshals
Zachary Sutton, who was wanted on child assault and strangulation charges in New Hampshire, was found and arrested in Berwick, Maine.

CONCORD, NH — An attempted burglary in Maine led to the capture of a recent New Hampshire fugitive of the week, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Zachary Alexander Sutton, 29, was arrested on Monday in Berwick, ME, by police after a call to service for a possible break-in on Monday. He was featured on April 20, due to a bail violations warrant out of Strafford County Superior Court after being charged with second-degree assault-strangulation of a child and assault on a second child in Rochester in 2020, Jeffrey White, a deputy marshal, said.
Tips led task force members to Portsmouth and Somersworth, NH, and Lebanon and Berwick, ME. On Monday, police in Berwick received a report of Sutton “attempting to break into a family member’s home,” he said.

“Upon the arrival of the Berwick Police Department, Sutton had fled into the woods and was captured a short time later,” White said.
Sutton was charged with being a fugitive from justice and is being held at the York County Jail in Maine.

“It is often the case that fugitives get desperate and unpredictable while on the run,” U.S. Marshal Nick Willard said. “We feature these fugitives as the ‘Fugitive of the Week’ in an effort to get them back into custody and in front of a judge before they potentially do something even more serious.”
White said along with deputy marshals, the Strafford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Greenfield, Somersworth, and Portsmouth police departments assisted with the case.
According to superior court records, Sutton's current case was from May 2020 in Rochester. The charges were filed in January 2021.
Back in December 2015 and January 2016, Sutton was charged with receiving stolen property-$1,501+ and receiving stolen property-$1,501+-criminal liability for the conduct of another charges. He pleaded guilty, about six months later, to the liability count.
Sutton was arrested on two drug charges and another receiving stolen property charge in Rochester in December 2016, which led to a guilty plea on a single drug count and the property charge in April 2017, as well as a guilty plea on a violation of probation or parole charge.
In May 2017, Sutton was charged with drug possession, but the single count was nolle prossed later.
In Rochester again, in September 2018, he was charged with drug possession, meth possession, and resisting arrest or detention charges and pleaded to the single drug count.
Sutton was arrested on a delivery of weapon or contraband charge in Dover in May 2019 and pleaded guilty later. In September 2019, he was also charged with controlled drug: controlled premises where drugs kept.
