Based on epidemiological investigation, 14 case-patients have been identified with illness onset dates ranging from June 15, to July 10, 2016, according to federal officials. The illnesses were reported from New Hampshire (10), with two reported from Massachusetts, one from Maine and one from Vermont.
“Traceback for 11 case-patients for whom data was available led back to a single slaughter date at PT Farm,” according to the alert. “This investigation is ongoing. FSIS continues to work with the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services on this investigation and will provide updated information as it becomes available.”
State officials are also reminding restaurants and consumers that some of the recalled ground beef may have been frozen so it would be important to check freezers for possible recalled beef.
Any consumers concerned about an illness should contact their healthcare provider. For further information about E. coli visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website at cdc.gov/ecoli/, or to report a suspected case contact the DPHS Bureau of Infectious Disease Control at 603-271-4496.
