NH Storm Update: Snow, Sleet, Freezing Rain, Coastal Flooding, and High Winds
Breaking: The National Weather Service issued a new "winter weather advisory" alert this afternoon with updated storm information.

GRAY, ME — The National Weather Service has issued a new “winter weather advisory” alert this afternoon updating its previous storm predictions for this week, according to an alert online. The new update was issued at 4:13 p.m. on Jan. 23, 2017, and runs through 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.
A low pressure system moving its way off the coast and across the northeast will move into New England tonight and bring with it, “a variety of different precipitation types,” through Tuesday.
“Cold air will be in place in the lower levels but warm air surging northward ahead of the storm will be enough to change precipitation from snow to sleet,” according to the alert, “or even freezing rain.”

The alert noted that a coastal front is likely to form which can also bring enough low level warm air to change precipitation to rain along the New Hampshire coast.

“The timing of the change over from snow to mixed precipitation remains low confidence,” the alert noted. “Plain rain looks to stay confined to southeast New Hampshire and near the coast in western Maine.
A coastal flood advisory is also under way tomorrow morning from 6 to 10 a.m. during high tide.
The storm is expected to start between 7 and 9 p.m. in most parts of New Hampshire and run through 10 a.m. on Tuesday. As much as 6 inches of snow will fall in central and western parts of the state with winds in the 10 to 35 mph range, with gusts of up to 30 mph inland and 50 mph on the coast.
Travel is expected to be difficult and commuters should be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities.
