Northfield Teen Indicted In August 2022 Triple Murder Case: Follow-Up
Eric Sweeney was indicted on 3 first-degree murder charges and falsifying evidence, accused of killing his sister-in-law and 2 nephews.

CONCORD, NH — A grand jury in Merrimack County has indicted a teen accused of killing his sister-in-law and two nephews in Northfield last year.
Eric Sweeney, 17, was indicted by the grand jury on three first-degree murder charges for the deaths of Kassandra Sweeney, 25, and nephews, Benjamin Sweeney, 4, and Mason Sweeney, 23 months, on Aug. 3, 2022, in their Northfield home, Michael Garrity, the director of communications for the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, said Wednesday.
Sweeney was also indicted on a falsifying physical evidence charge, accused of getting rid of the murder weapon, a .40 caliber Taurus handgun, to impede an investigation.

Sweeney was initially arrested about a week after the shooting, but because he was a juvenile, no information was released to the public. The murder charges were filed against Sweeney in mid-June in Merrimack County Superior Court, according to a records check. Originally indicted on Sept. 13, amendments were filed to the indictments on Tuesday, when he was arraigned in superior court.
Sweeney is currently being held without bail. No new court dates have been set at post time.
