Breaking: Forecasters: The first of two storms this week is expected to deliver up to 7 inches of snow, sleet, freezing rain tomorrow.

GRAY, ME — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for New Hampshire for Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017. The alert – warning of “more wintry weather” for northern New England – was issued at 3 p.m. today.
“Snow will overspread the region from southwest to northeast on Tuesday,” the alert noted. “As warm air enters the region aloft, the precipitation will change to sleet and freezing rain during the afternoon over southernmost New Hampshire. This transition line will gradually move northward through western Maine and New Hampshire on Tuesday night.”
Accumulations of between 3 and 6 inches are expected with slightly lower amounts in the southernmost part of New Hampshire and coastal regions. Up to 7 inches is expected in other areas of the state, depending on far south the main part of the storm drifts, according to AccuWeather.com, which called the storm "multi-faceted."

A light coating of ice is expected in most areas as well, with more ice, in the western part of New Hampshire.
“A few locations may be slick during the Tuesday morning commute due to the possibility of light a coating of snow in some areas,” the alert stated. “However, the Tuesday evening commute will be particularly treacherous due to the snow and mixed precipitation. Allow extra time when traveling on Tuesday.”
A second storm – being described as “sneaky snow” – is heading to the region on Wednesday night, according to AccuWeather.com.
