Pembroke Academy Drill Goes Smoothly
Police chief: Preparation is necessary and important in today's society. Numerous false alarms have occurred at the school this year.

PEMBROKE, NH – Pembroke Police, Fire and Rescue teams, and school officials held a “school threat” drill earlier today in order to prepare for any evacuation or emergency situation, according to Chief Dwayne Gilman.
Students at Pembroke Academy, the town’s high school, was “evacuated and transitioned” to another school facility locally on Dec. 10, 2015.
“Both Police, Fire and school officials searched the school systematically for any further threat as they would in a real situation,” Gilman noted in a press statement. “The purpose of the drill was to move the population from one school to the next, quickly and safely by using each of the department’s resources.”

All Department heads agreed, he said, that this was a necessary and important goal in today’s society. Gilman added that the evacuation and preparation was “very” successful.
During the last year, there have been at least three threat incidents at the school including a bomb threat in March, another lockdown in April to find contraband, and an incident last month involving suspicious handwriting in a bathroom.
