Previous 2021 Concord Child Assault Case Leads To New Felony Charges
Andrew Trudell of Franklin was arrested on sexual assault, threat, and second-degree assault charges Tuesday after an April 2021 incident.

CONCORD, NH — A former Concord resident is facing new felony charges about 16 months after being arrested on child endangerment and assault charges.
Back in April 2021, police began an investigation of Andrew Trudell, 37, formerly of Bog Road in Concord but now residing in Franklin, who was accused of assaulting a child. Specifically, according to an affidavit, he was accused of pushing and punching a child in the eye, causing bruising. The child was also hit with a wall fan which caused lacerations, an indictment report stated. Trudell was also accused of altering a wall to impair an investigation into the assaults.
Initially, Trudell was arrested on May 8, 2021, for endangering the welfare of a child, domestic violence-simple assault, criminal mischief, and two simple assault charges. In mid-July, the charges were upgraded to include falsifying physical evidence, three second-degree assault, and two second-degree assault-domestic violence charges, all felonies.

Concord police, on Tuesday, filed more charges against Trudell, including five second-degree assault counts, two felonious sexual assault counts, and two criminal threatening counts. He was arrested and held in preventive detention. Trudell was due to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department would not speak to specifics about the case but said the new charges were connected to the April 2021 incident, not a new incident.

“The continuous investigation of the original incident led to us discovering more charges that could be brought,” he said.
Merrimack County Superior Court did not have affidavit information connected to the new charges at post time.
In an email to Patch in June 2021, after his arrest information was initially published, Trudell threatened to sue, and said, “Not everything is as it looks.”
When the charges were upgraded in superior court, Trudell wrote again and denied knowing about the indictment or upgraded charges. He did not respond after receiving the indictment information from Patch.
In November 2021, Trudell said the case had been resolved and requested the charges be removed. But according to superior court records, the charges had not been resolved.
Trudell, between December 2021 and last week, has been in superior court repeatedly due to dispositional conference, pretrial, and status conference hearings. Jury selection in the original case was scheduled to begin in April 2023.
Concord police, Thomas said, were continuing to investigate Trudell and this incident. Anyone with information about him or the case is asked to Det. Steven Carter of the Criminal Investigations Division at 603-225-8600.

Back in August 2002, according to records, Trudell faced three criminal threatening charges in Laconia and was found guilty on a single count. He petitioned the Belknap County Superior Court to annul his record in July 2018.
