Queen City Man Faces 10 Dangerous Weapon Charges: New Hampshire State Police Roundup
Connecticut teen accused of driving 137 mph in a 55-mph zone on Route 16 after 30-mile chase and blotters from around the Granite State.

CONCORD, NH — A man from Manchester is facing more than a dozen charges after being accused of driving more than 100 mph on Interstate 93 on Wednesday.
Around 10 a.m., a state trooper conducting a motor vehicle stop of a commercial vehicle on the northbound side of Interstate 93 in Hooksett reported a 2013 Dodge Dart pulled off the highway nearby. The driver of the car reportedly exited the vehicle and began shouting erratically. The trooper attempted to approach the driver, but they ran back to the car and drove away, according to Tyler Dumont, the public information officer for state police.
“Soon after,” he said, “the same Dodge was seen traveling more than 100 mph in the high-speed breakdown lane in Bow by (another) trooper of Troop D. (The) trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver accelerated to speeds above 100 mph and showed no indications of slowing.”

The driver, identified later as Jason Marcoux, 48, of Manchester, continued north through Concord and was accused of driving toward other vehicles and endangering other drivers. At Exit 17, Marcoux left the highway and drove toward Boscawen via Route 3, a report said, while “continuing to drive toward oncoming traffic and forcing other drives off the road.” The driver then crashed the car into a snowbank at the Boscawen roundabout. K-9 “Ragnar” then apprehended Marcoux, Dumont said.
Marcoux was charged with 10 felony counts of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon as well as unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, disobeying an officer, driving after suspension-DUI, and reckless driving.

CT Teen Accused Of Driving 137 mph on Route 16
A teen from Connecticut is facing charges after being accused of excessive speed during a chase with state police on Jan. 20.
Thomas C. Smart, 18, of Goshen, CT, was arrested and charged with felony reckless conduct, criminal mischief, and disobeying a police officer.
Around 8:30 p.m., troopers attempted to stop the driver of a 2013 BMW 335xi on Route 16 in Dover for speeding. The car was clocked at 95 mph in a 55 zone, according to Dumont.
“Instead of slowing down and pulling over, however, the driver sped up and drove in an increasingly dangerous manner,” he said. “A pursuit was initiated and continued for nearly 30 miles and approximately 15 minutes. During the pursuit, the driver drove recklessly at speeds as high as 137 mph.”
Troopers and police officers coordinated their efforts and deployed a tire deflation device to stop the driver. Dumont said, after hitting the device, Smart attempted a sudden turn and lost control of a car. The car ended up in a ditch, he said.
After being arrested, Smart was held on preventative detention. A passenger in the car was not injured or charged.
Members of the Wakefield Fire and Rescue and Wakefield, Rochester, and Milton police departments assisted troopers during the chase.
Anyone with additional information about the incident was asked to contact Trooper William Bohnenberger at william.f.bohnenberger@dos.nh.gov.
