A Rainy, Damp Week Predicted for NH

The NWS is calling for showers off and on all week; forecasters say that the rain is needed.

After rain today and tomorrow, it will dry out for a day or two, and then the rain is expected to return, according to weather forecasters. But meteorologists state that it’s OK, because the precipitation is badly needed after numerous brushfires and red flag warnings in New Hampshire.

“Rain is needed to erase the short-term deficit that has set the stage for abnormally dry conditions across portions of the eastern U.S.,” according to Alex Sosnowski, a meteorologist with AccuWeather.com, who noted that much of the Northeast is running at 44 to 75 percent of normal participation during March and April.

A quick reminder: When you’re out and about around the Granite State this month, don’t forget to take the time to check for ticks, since May is Lyme disease awareness month.
