Retired Concord Police Officer Recognized by City Council

Eric Crane recently changed jobs after 16 years on the city's police force.

The Concord City Council on June 8, 2015, honored Master Police Officer Eric Crane with a resolution commending him for his service, which included time as a community resource officer, DARE officer, and working to manage the Citizen’s Police Academy.

Crane, it was noted, had received numerous certificates for community policing and letters of commendations during his time on the force as well as an America’s Promise Award, a national acknowledgement for working with young people. He also was a member of the Greater Concord Safety Coalition, Safe Kids NH, and the NH Firearm Safety Coalition.

Crane was also a motorcycle officer and during the resolution, Mayor Jim Bouley, broke away from the formal text to joke that it was how councilors would probably remember him.

“The special moment when the motorcycle appeared,” he said to giggles from some councilors and others in the room.

After reading the resolution, Bouley thanked Crane personally for all of his hard work with the department.

“The words on that plaque don’t really represent what you’ve meant to this community,” he said. “I want to personally say, having worked with you, you are the ultimate professional; you were a great representative of the city of Concord and no one wears that motorcycle outfit better than you.”

Crane followed up Bouley’s remarks by saying, “It was a privilege to serve the city for as long as I have. To be a resident … a police officer … to work with everybody on the city council and in this room, professionally and personally, I thank you all very much.”
