White Park Pond Not Quite Frozen Yet
But the hockey rink at Concord's historic park is ready for skating.
The skating rink at White Park is now open, according to David Gill, the director of Concord Parks and Recreation. But he's warning people that despite the freezing temperatures, it's not safe to walk or skate on local ponds just yet.
“The ponds at White Park and Beaver Meadow Golf Course are not safe at this time (ice is too thin),” he noted in an email. “Rollins Park skating area will be ready early next week.”
A lone skater was seen enjoying the rink at White Park on Dec. 16, while General Services Department vehicles were clearing snow away from White Park Pond, preparing for skaters.

Gill noted that cross-country ski trail at Memorial Field was in good shape and volunteer groomers were out after the storm patting things down. Trails at the Beaver Meadow Golf Course should also be open next week.
“Remember, there is no cost to use the cross country ski trails or skating areas – just another benefit of living in Concord, NH!,” Gill noted.
