Ron Paul Ends 'Active Campaigning'

He will no longer campaign, but will continue trying to get delegates.

UPDATE: State Sen. , R-Henniker, who served as a co-chairman of Ron Paul's New Hampshire Primary effort, offered a one word comment upon hearing that Paul was ending active campaigning: "Sad."

Sanborn, who co-owns in Concord and had a recipe featured in Paul's annual cookbook, was one of many Republicans that was heavily courted during the primary. He stated that Paul's positions on personal freedom and his plan to fix federal finances the first year in office were two of the reasons he was backing the candidate. Paul placed second in the primary behind Mitt Romney.

Former GOP presidential candidate and current Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson issued a statement this afternoon, seeking to court Paul supporters.

"You can't suspend liberty," Johnson said. "The Ron Paul revolution must continue, whether he is actively campaigning or not... Whether it is at the Republican Convention or at the polls in November, the revolution Ron Paul has ignited will be seen and heard in the months ahead. I will continue the Ron Paul Revolution."

CNN is reporting that GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul is ending "active campaigning."

Paul stopped short of suspending his campaign entirely, saying he will still try to get delegates.

"Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted," the Paul campaign said in a statement sent to CNN. "Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have."
