Single-Vehicle Crash In Penacook Leads To Injury
A Loudon woman's Subaru Impreza crashed on Elm Street Sunday; its airbags were deployed and blood seen; Concord cops say driver unknown.
CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating how and why a crossover vehicle crashed into trees and a guardrail on Elm Street in Penacook on Sunday.
Around 11 p.m., a driver on the street stopped after seeing a Subaru Impreza that had crashed near Greenleaf Road. No one was in or nearby the vehicle. But the caller reported its airbags were deployed and there was “quite a bit of blood around,” capital region dispatch said.
Firefighters arrived first and confirmed an accident and no one was around. They cleared soon after.

After police arrived, they took over the scene, and confirmed there was front-end damage and blood all over the vehicle's inside. Police dispatch reported a woman in Loudon owned the Subaru. Dispatch attempted to call her, but there was no answer at first. Dispatch also stated that a teenager with a suspended license might be connected to the vehicle.
One officer remained at the crash scene while two others began searching the area for a driver. One also spoke to the caller who phoned in the crash.

The road was closed for a short period of time while the officer took pictures. Concord General Services also inspected the guardrail and said crews would be out to fix it later that morning.
Dispatch reached the owner, who was asleep at the time and denied the car was missing. After being asked to look outside, the woman realized her Subaru was missing and stated the teenager might have it, according to scanner chatter.
The dispatcher said the teen was finally reached and said he was at a friend’s house and did not know the car was missing or who had it. Later, an officer called the teen, found out he was nearby, and he would walk back to the crash scene.
Around 1 a.m., the watch commander requested the evidence technician's vehicle be brought to the crash to swap evidence from the vehicle.
Deputy Chief John Thomas said the incident is still an open investigation. No charges have been filed, he said. He believed three people were in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Thomas added one of the passengers was treated for injuries sustained in the accident.
Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call Concord police at 603-225-8600 or the Concord Regional Crimeline at 603-226-3100.
