Skeletal Remains Found In Concord ID’d As Fugitive Child Sexual Assaulter: Follow-Up
Cops: The cause of death of Michael Schilz, whose remains were found in a shed on North State Street last month, has yet to be determined.

CONCORD, NH — The skeletal remains of a man found on North State Street in Concord last month have been identified as a fugitive homeless sexual assaulter who had not been seen for nearly two years.
The body was identified as Michael Schilz, 59, of Concord, but the cause of his death has yet to be determined, Lt. Thomas Yerkes of the Concord Police Department’s Bureau of Investigations said Monday. Schilz’s body was found inside a shed on the property and detectives began an unattended death investigation.

“The body of the deceased subject appeared to have been within the shed for an extended period of time,” he said. “The remains were transported to the Concord Hospital, where an autopsy was scheduled.”

The cause and manner of death have not been determined, Yerkes added. The investigation is open and active, with police asking the public to come forward with any info they may have about Schilz.
In mid-October 2023, Schilz was featured as a “fugitive of the week” by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections on a parole violation after being convicted of aggravated felonious sexual assault of a child more than two decades ago.

The warrant for his arrest was issued in May 2023 after Schilz was accused of absconding from the supervision of his parole-probation officer.
