Snowy Conditions Expected For NH's Thursday Commute: Forecasters

Weather forecasters: As much as 3- to 5-inches of snow is expected across southern New Hampshire and then, frigid temperatures Friday.

GRAY, ME — The National Weather Service has issued "winter weather advisory" and "hazardous weather outlook" alerts for the state of New Hampshire warning of snow Thursday. Accumulations are expected to be in the 3-to 5-inch range — with a mix of rain toward the end of the storm. Forecasters warned commuters should "plan on slippery road conditions" Thursday.

"(A) low pressure tracking across southern New England will spread snow across New Hampshire and Maine beginning after midnight Wednesday night and lasting into the day Thursday," according to the outlook alert. "Snowy conditions will affect the morning commute on Thursday."

The alerts were posted issued by forecasters at 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. Wednesday.

According to forecast timelines, Concord and the capital region should see snow start around 3 a.m. Thursday and later, mixing with rain after 1 p.m. In Nashua and other Hillsborough communities, including Amherst, Bedford, Merrimack, and Milford, snow should start around 1 a.m. and then mix to rain and snow sometime before 3 p.m. Inner Rockingham County communities such as Londonderry, Salem, and Windham, will see snow start around 2 a.m. and mix with rain before 3 p.m. In the Seacoast communities of Exeter, Hampton, North Hampton, and Portsmouth, forecasters said snow should start around 2 a.m. and mix with rain by 2 p.m.
