CONCORD, NH — Gov. Chris Sununu, while touting the state of the state as strong and free, unveiled two major initiatives during his speech on Thursday.

The InvestNH Housing Incentive Fund will set aside $100 million to rebuild and expand housing for the state’s next generation. The governor, while working with the Legislature, will use federal funds to offer various grants to provide “gap funding” for new multi-family developments, bonuses for communities as incentive payments, and money to modernize and update town zoning rules.

Sununu also proposed a new New Hampshire Veterans Campus with state-of-the-art housing, support services, and retreat beds for vets and their families in a partnership with Easterseals to be constructed on a 15-acre site in Franklin.

Hassan Raises Issues About IRS Service

During a Senate Finance Committee hearing on Thursday, U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan raised concerns about issues a number of New Hampshire residents have raised with her office — poor customer service at the Internal Revenue Service.

Here is a video clip of the questioning.

“Granite Staters have been reaching out to my office in record numbers for help because they’ve been unable to reach a real person at the IRS,” she said. “And according to your Annual Report to Congress … taxpayers who tried to call the IRS last year were only able to speak to a customer service representative 11 percent of the time - often after sitting on hold. To address this, you’ve recommended that the IRS implement an automated callback system, among other technologies.”

CHaD Battle Of The Badges Game March 13

Fans of the game, which has raised around $2.6 million to support children and families, can cheer on their favorite law enforcement and fire and rescue heroes as they skate and raise money for CHaD. Money from the game will be used to maintain Child Life and Complex Care programs, provide complimentary patient and family support services, and help children and their families live their happiest, healthiest lives.

The game will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, at the SHNU Arena in Manchester. Tickets are $15, per person, and kids 5 and under are free. Tickets are general admission seating and livestreaming will be available for free. There will be no tickets sold at the door the day of the game. Tickets can be purchased at CHaDHockey.org.

Fan capacity will be limited to encourage fans to enjoy the game in a physically-distanced manner. Spectators and volunteers must wear masks and full COVID-19 guidelines and protocols are listed on the website.
