Suspect In Concord Gun Burglary Incident Arrested In Manchester

Update: Career criminal Nathan Laporte faces numerous felonies including felon in possession, drug dealing, stolen property, other charges.

MANCHESTER, NH — A suspect from a gun burglary incident in Concord in November 2021 has been caught, according to police in the Queen City.

Nathan Laporte, 27, of Manchester faces numerous charges including armed career criminal, two counts of felon in possession of a deadly weapon, felonious use of a firearm, two counts of receiving stolen property, possession with the intent to distribute, disobeying a police officer, falsifying evidence, reckless conduct, and violation of bail conditions charges. He was arrested on Wednesday.

Back on Nov. 22, 2021, an officer safety alert was issued by the Concord Police Department after a burglary at a North End home. Sometime between 7:30 and 11 a.m., police accused Laporte of burglarizing a home and stealing as many as two dozen firearms. The guns included both handguns and AR-15 longarm rifles, according to an alert.

Flash forward to Jan. 24, police in Manchester were in the area of Wilson and Spruce streets when a truck was pulled over for several traffic violations. While the officer was speaking with the driver, according to Heather Hamel, a public information officer for the Manchester Police Department, the driver took off.

“Police began to pursue the vehicle at a safe distance until they lost sight of it,” she said. “The vehicle was later found, unoccupied, behind Yee Dynasty on South Willow Street.”

Police later accused Laporte of being the driver at the time. The truck was searched and police said they found two firearms confirmed to be stolen out of Concord. A “large quantity of illegal drugs” was also found inside, Hamel said. A warrant was then issued for Laporte’s arrest.

On Wednesday, SWAT officers attempted to take custody of Laporte on Cartier Street where he was accused of barricading himself inside a home. After a number of announcements across a loudspeaker and multiple negotiation attempts, he surrendered to the police.

Concord Deputy Chief John Thomas said it was good two of the guns were recovered but others are still on the street. Police are “actively trying to locate” the other guns involved in the burglary, he said. Thomas said anonymous tips can be made to the Concord Regional Crimeline about the incident at 603-226-3100. Tipsters can also reach out to Det. Mark Hassapes about the case at 603-225-8600, he said.

Laporte is no stranger to police. He was a suspect in an armed robbery case out of Bedford in 2013. He was indicted on a single charge but it was nolle prossed in June 2013, according to superior court records. Laporte was also accused of receiving stolen property in December 2013 in Manchester.

A year later, Laporte was accused of drug dealing in Salem and pleaded guilty in July 2015, making him a felon. Fifteen months later, he violated probation or parole and was convicted on a single count.
