Suspicious Package Detonated In Downtown Concord
Watch: Parts of North Main Street were cordoned off on Friday due to a cardboard box with metal that was detonated by the NHSP bomb squad.
CONCORD, NH — Parts of North Main Street in Concord were closed this afternoon for a report of a suspicious package that has been determined to not have been a danger to the public, according to police. Concord Police officers were called to downtown at just after 1 p.m. on March 23, 2018, after the package was discovered outside of Merrimack County Savings Bank. The New Hampshire State Police bomb squad unit was stationed on School Street while a perimeter was set up and the area between Park and Warren streets were closed off.

According to witnesses, the package was a box with unusual writing on it.

At just before 4 p.m., the package was detonated by the state police. All the streets downtown were completely open to traffic at around 4:30 p.m.

Det. Sgt. Robert Buelte said in a statement that there were no threats received associated with the item. Detectives, he noted, are investigating the incident.
