Teen Taken To Concord Hospital After Being Accused Of Smashing Citizens Bank ATM Vestibule
A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after destroying a glass door and beating on an ATM on Loudon Road.
CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating a vandalism incident at the Citizens Bank on Loudon Road that led to officers placing a boy in custody and taking him to the hospital for medical treatment Saturday.
Around 1:45 p.m., dispatch received reports about a man smashing the glass door of the automatic teller machine vestibule at the bank at 188 Loudon Road. After entering the area, witnesses said, the man began banging on the ATM itself. The police received a description of the man, and the arriving officers found him inside the ATM area, barricading the door.
The suspect gave a name to officers and could be heard screaming in the scanner audio background as officers waited for backup.

“We’re not going to approach him now,” the officer said. “There’s broken glass everywhere.”
A New Hampshire State Police trooper with a K-9 offered to head to the scene.

“We’d appreciate it,” a dispatcher said.
A bank employee was requested and dispatch also said an employee was working on the ATM in another part of the building. Concord fire and rescue teams were also sent to the scene. Later, a bank representative sent a responder, too.
After a short period, officers attempted to place the boy into a police vehicle, but he was accused of kicking the cruiser. One noted the boy was “highly, highly agitated.”
Dispatch asked officers if the suspect was the juvenile police had been dealing with all day, and an officer confirmed it was.
Police did not have the suspect’s mother’s phone number and one suggested someone go to the Concord Gardens apartment complex to speak with her. A dispatcher stated her number was not on file and a language barrier would exist.
After getting the suspect into the cruiser, officers elected to take him to Concord Hospital since he was still screaming and making suicidal comments. Hospital security was alerted to the situation, and they requested police leave the suspect in the cruiser when they arrived so they could be staged appropriately.
According to one of the officers, the mother was reached later by phone and said she would go to the hospital.
A maintenance crew was sent to the bank to board up the ATM vestibule.
When the juvenile arrived at the emergency room, he was restrained and brought into the hospital, police said.
