Warner painter Becky Darling expresses the theme of the show, which is titled “Release.” “The show was inspirational for me on many levels,” she says. “My interpretations ranged from the release I feel when painting on site to the release I feel as the watercolor flows, to actual examples of release in nature, and finally to the release we are all feeling as we emerge from the challenges of the pandemic. It is my hope that the viewer is also inspired, intrigued, and released by the connection to the paintings.”

According to TVAS president Alyssa McKeon, the theme was chosen last winter with the hope and belief that things would get better. “We hope viewers will feel the sense of catharsis and joy we see in the artwork.”
