Watrous Runs in Ward 7

Redistricting is continuing to play a role in changing the political landscape of the city of Concord.

Incumbent state Rep. , D-Concord, has filed to run for re-election the newly created Ward 7 seat, meaning he will face off against state Rep. , D-Concord, another incumbent, in a primary this September.

The new redistricting plan changed the way Deloge, state Rep. Chip Rice, D-Concord, and Watrous, were elected. Previously, the three, who all live on Wilson Avenue, occupied three of the four seats in the Ward 5, 6, and 7 district seat. Rice has decided to run for the floterial seat covering Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7.

"I will continue working hard for my constituents as I have during the past four years,” Watrous said in an email, “three of which were partially spent on a successful effort to return control of the to the citizens of Concord.”

Other candidates file

Over in the new Ward 6 seat, Doris Blanchard has filed a notice of intent to run against Jane Hunt, a Democrat.

Also filing on June 12, were two Republicans in Ward 10.

Kenneth Georgevitis and Alvin Jones, both of Mountain Road, also filed to run in the newly created Ward 10 seat. They will face off in a primary in September.

According to filings at the Secretary of State’s Office and the Hopkinton Town Clerk’s Office, no candidates have filed to run for the Ward 5/Hopkinton combination seat.

Other notice of intent filings at the Secretary of State’s Office include Virgil Goode of Virginia who is running for president; Peter Cordatos of Bennington, who is running for governor and previously ran in the Republican primary in 1994; and Danny Keating of Nashua, who is running for the Second Congressional District.
