Webster Water Rescue Call Turns Into An SUV Crash In A Ditch

Concord, Canterbury, Henniker, Hopkinton, and Salisbury EMTs assist Webster firefighters after an SUV crash on Deer Meadow Road.

WEBSTER, NH — Area firefighters were sent to Deer Meadow Road in Webster Thursday for an SUV crash with entrapment with the vehicle possibly sinking into a body of water.

The initial report came in at 2:10 a.m. as a vehicle driving into a brook between the city line with Concord and Concord Drive. Along with Webster firefighters, EMTs as well as firefighters with boats were requested from Concord, Canterbury, Boscawen, Hopkinton, Henniker, and Salisbury.

Later, as 911 began to sort out the call, the driver reported her vehicle was in a ditch and in water but not sinking.

Webster command, before arriving, told dispatch it was "pretty deep and steep there" and called off more departments from coming to town to assist.

At first, Webster firefighters could not see the vehicle but eventually found it after the driver used a flashlight to signal where she was. Command closed the road traffic and canceled boat rescue firefighters since she was in a deep ditch and not a nearby brook.

Firefighters then used a roof ladder lowered down into the ditch to retrieve the driver and she was taken to Concord Hospital.
