West Concord Fire Completely Out
Chief Andrus: It took nearly 24 hours to put the brushfire in, around Marjory Swope Park, Penacook Lake out.

Chief Dan Andrus of the Concord Fire Department has issued a statement saying that the West Concord brushfire has now been declared completely extinguished.
Fire teams were called to the area around Marjory Swope Park and Penacook Lake of Long Pond Road at just before 1 p.m. on May 4, 2015. The fire was declared out with teams clearing the scene at 12:26 p.m., according to Andrus.

“The incident was concluded with no injuries, no damage to structures, and no damage to firefighting vehicles,” he said. “The fire did come within 1,000 feet of homes on District Five Road.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and no new information about the cause of the blaze is available, according to Andrus.

Andrus added that the department wished to thank “all of the firefighting personnel in neighboring towns (some from Goffstown and New Boston) who responded to the city yesterday who were an integral part of the suppression operations, as well as the staff of the New Hampshire Forest and Lands Division who provided support throughout the incident.” The American Red Cross was also on scene throughout the incident to support responders, he noted.
“We are deeply grateful to them as well,” he said.
