White Park Mid-Summer Classic Held Sunday

Concord b-ball tourney to be refereed by Bonner brothers; foundations will show off court improvements.

The hot temps won’t stop the Bonner brothers and others from hosting the White Park Mid-Summer Classic basketball tournament on July 21.

The Rock On Foundation and Frank Monahan Foundation combined efforts earlier this year to install new backboards, benches, and an electrical box at the basketball court at White Park.

To celebrate the achievements, so far, the two foundations are hosting “an impromptu high school tournament” starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday, according to Luke Bonner

Merrimack Valley High School students will face off against Bishop Brady High School students at 6 p.m. Concord High School players will play Newport High School at 7 p.m. Then, at 8 p.m., a championship game will be held between the winners.

“It should be a great evening for the local basketball scene and the community as a whole,” Bonner noted in an email. “We’re very excited about this.”

Bonner, who will referee in the tournament with his brother Matt Bonner, noted that more improvement plans for the court are expected soon, and a new high school summer league will be started in 2014.
