12,000 In New Hampshire Still Without Power

Update: Eversource, Unitil, the New Hampshire Electric Coop, and Liberty Utilities reported outages Friday due to wind gusts and ice.

CONCORD, NH — Around 12,000 utility customers in New Hampshire are still without power Saturday as blustery winds, ice, snow, and tree limbs and trees have knocked down power lines all across the state Friday. At the height of the activity, around 45,000 were without power in the state. Eversource is reporting the most outages — more than 11,000 including more than 1,700 in Derry and around 1,000 in Auburn. Customers are still without power in Epping, Londonderry, Deerfield, Sandown, Canterbury, New Boston, Hopkinton, Merrimack, Northwood, Windham, Weare, and Dunbarton. The New Hampshire Electric Coop is reporting about 1,500 outages including nearly 500 in Nottingham with smaller outages in Sandown, Chester, Derry, and other communities.

Unitil has one outage in Dunbarton after dealing with close to 2,000 outages in the capital region and on the Seacoast. Liberty Utilities had around 400 outages but quickly restored power to the majority of customers.

The National Weather Service had an active "winter weather advisory" until 10 p.m. Friday. Wind gusts during the next few hours are expected to be as high as 35 mph.

During the overnight and morning hours, expect wet roads to freeze and create "icy spots and slick travel."

A transformer fire was reported on Hot Hole Pond Road in Concord at just before 7 p.m. and West Parish Road was also closed to traffic.
