GRAY, ME — A winter storm warning has been issued for most of New Hampshire — with anywhere from 4 to 18 inches expected for most of the state.
The National Weather Service issued the warning around 3 p.m. on Thursday and extended the storm’s timeline from slightly running from early Friday morning to early Saturday evening.
“Low pressure across the mid-Atlantic will move north and east into southern New England tonight,” the alert said, “and on Friday with the season’s first widespread winter storm expected to continue across the area through Saturday.”

Eversource, New Hampshire's largest utility, issued a statement saying it was preparing for the first significant storm of the season by strategically prepositioning crews and equipment across the state so they will be ready to respond quickly and safely to any storm-related outages.
“As with any potential hazardous weather approaching our state, we’ve been following multiple forecasts and models this week — keeping a particularly close eye on the potential snow-rain line because of the damage that heavy, wet snow can cause to trees and the electric system,” Eversource President of New Hampshire Operations Doug Foley said. “We’re securing additional contract crews and will have line, tree and service workers geared up and ready to respond as quickly as safely possible to any outages across the state. We encourage our customers to prepare ahead of time by stocking a storm kit and charging all devices, and also remind our customers that restorations may take longer as we ensure the safety of our employees who will be responding in challenging road conditions.”
The storm will start with rain, at first, on Friday morning, and then switch to snow in the afternoon and evening and continue into Saturday.
