Mirsky: It's a Democracy, So Vote!
If you have never voted before, today is Election Day, Just Do It.

Today is state Primary Day in New Hampshire. That means that the Republican and Democratic Parties are choosing the candidates who will be placed on the final ballot for voting in November.
Today is an important day. You need to vote!
This is an election year, so in New Hampshire we are choosing our next Governor, we are choosing our State Representatives and State Senators. We are choosing one of our U.S. Senators and our two Congresswomen or Congressmen, the people who will become our voices in Washington, D.C.

These people will decide important issues, things that affect all of us, things like our personal freedom, our safety, the quality of our economic life.
I am not telling you who you should vote for. That is now none of my business! (As if it ever was!)

But if you don't vote, a lot of bad things will happen. You will begin to get jaded and you will begin to think that your opinion doesn't count. If you don't vote, you will be correct about this. You will have given your most important power to other people.
There are a lot political activists out there, people like me, who understand the importance of voting in our democracy. (Yes, this is still a Democracy!!! - Trump and Vladimir Putin have not taken over yet!!!!)
Don't let the political activists decide your future. You need to decide your own future. You need to vote.
And don't listen to one source of news or read just one newspaper. Get out there, talk to people. Talk to your friends. Talk to the morning coffee crowd at your local coffee shop. They will give you something to think about. Go to the other great meeting places in town. Join a political party or issue-oriented interest group. Save the Whales!
Support a candidate who you believe in because they convinced you about some important issue.
Just don't give up your power to other people. It's just like working out and eating right, if you don't do those things you will not be healthy. If you are not healthy you will feel terrible. Don't let that happen.
You need to get involved!!!!

If you think you don't have any power as a voter, think again. Why do you think the candidates spend so much time and money trying to convince you how to vote? That's because you DO have power.
But you have to use it.
In New Hampshire, today is the day to vote.
Just do it.
