MIRSKY: New Hampshire Needs Medicaid Expansion
Because Good Health Care is a Necessity for all of us.
If there is one thing certain about New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan, it is that her primary concern is to improve the quality of life of real people here in New Hampshire. That is why Governor Hassan has been working hard to restore the program of Medicaid Expansion to the New Hampshire Budget.
If you are a working person who needs the Medicaid Expansion program to be able to afford adequate medical care in New Hampshire, the way things stand right now you will be losing that health care coverage. There are Legislators in the New Hampshire House of Representatives who are currently opposed to Medicaid Expansion, even though they have previously supported it.
Governor Maggie Hassan is continually trying to resolve this problem, but at this point it has become clear that Governor Hassan needs a bit more help from the people of New Hampshire.

You can’t remain healthy if your neighbor is sick with a contagious disease and has no money to pay for adequate health care to resolve the problem. This applies to diseases like Ebola, and it also applies to more complex problems like New Hampshire’s current heroin epidemic.
We all need medical care, and we all need to realize that quality, affordable medical care is not something that is just for one or two people. Quality affordable medical care is something necessary to preserve the health of everyone here in the State of New Hampshire. When people get sick, with a common cold or with the Ebola virus or heroin addiction, they develop problems that can hurt everyone. Our federal government has developed the program of Medicaid to help with the problem that we all face when people do not have enough money to pay for their own medical care.
We have this program right now but if your Legislators do not follow Governor Hassan’s lead on this, we will lose Medicaid Expansion.
Please contact your New Hampshire State Representative and your New Hampshire State Senator, and remind them that you were pleased when the entire New Hampshire Legislature supported Medicaid Expansion, because it was something good for all of us.
