Men With Warrants Arrested In Merrimack By Cops, SWAT After Standoff, Police Say

Scottie Collier of no fixed address and Samuel Robie of Chester were holed up in a house on Fairview Terrace on Tuesday.

MERRIMACK, NH — Two men were arrested on active warrants after a standoff on Fairview Terrace on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Police were sent to a home on Fairview Terrace, where two men with active warrants were believed to be inside. Merrimack police and members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office believed Scottie Collier, 44, of no fixed address, and Samuel Robie, 43, of Chester Street in Chester, were inside, according to Sgt. Brandon Gagnon of the Merrimack Police Department.

Collier was wanted by Merrimack police for being a habitual offender, disobeying a police officer, and failing to appear in court, after being accused of giving a false name during a traffic stop on June 17. Robie had active warrants for failure to appear in court in Hillsborough County and a probation violation out of Strafford County.

“Upon arrival at the residence,” Gagnon said, “both individuals were seen running into the garage and then into the house in an apparent effort to avoid apprehension. Due to the circumstances and possible presence of weapons, the Southern NH Special Operations Unit was contacted to respond to the scene.”

Officers attempted to command the suspects to exit the home. After about half an hour, Collier exited and was arrested. Robie exited later and was also arrested.

Collier and Robie were taken to police headquarters, booked and processed, and held on preventative detention. They were taken to the Valley Street Jail in Manchester and were scheduled to appear in Merrimack District Court on July 15.

Both men are no strangers to the police.

Back in 2016, the U.S. Marshals were assigned to find Collier on multiple warrants, including failure to appear on a drug charge and being a habitual offender out of Rockingham County, failure to appear on multiple counts of theft by unlawful taking issued out of Hillsborough County, and a warrant issued by the Nashua Police Department for another charge of theft by unlawful taking. Robie has previously been charged with receiving stolen property, robbery, theft, and other charges.
