NASHUA, NH — An 11-hour standoff on Chestnut Street Friday ended with the arrest of a Nashua man on criminal threatening and resisting arrest charges shortly before midnight. Shawn Goodine, 43, was taken into custody following a standoff that forced road closures, evacuations, detours and students who normally walk home from the nearby Elm Street Middle School to be held at school until parents could come get them.

Nashua Police said the investigation will continue Saturday with additional charges pending.

Back in August 2015, Goodine was slated to be a fugitive of the week by the U.S. Marshals after violating conditions of his supervised released after being convicted and sentenced for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

In June 2014, Nashua police were patrolling the area near the Elm Street Middle School when they saw a white car traveling at a high rate of speed. When they attempted to stop the car, it failed to stop, eventually reaching 70 mph, in an area with posted 30 mph signs. After stopping, an officer saw, in plain view, a shotgun, with a 12-inch barrel, requiring it to be registered, in the passenger's seat of the car.

Goodine was arrested. He later claimed that he was threatened with a gun by other men while helping a woman and was on his way to kill the men who threatened him when police stopped him for motor vehicle violations, according to press reports. The shotgun, police later learned, was not registered.

Goodine was also arrested on stalking and other charges in July 2010.
