NASHUA, NH — The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office has identified the suspect wounded in an officers-involved shooting, and the police officers who fired at the suspect, during an overnight standoff on Hunt Street two weeks ago. The AG's office said Tuesday that Nashua Police Officer Joe Colangelo hit William Case, 59, in the upper torso with a bullet, while Nashua Police Officer Mathew Foss hit Case with a beanbag round, during the hours-long standoff that started on Sept. 19.

Case was taken to a Boston hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The AG's office said Case is being treated for issues not related to the shooting. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Colangelo has been a police officer for 10 years. Foss has been a police officer for four years. The AG's office said a report regarding whether the officers' use of force was justified will be released once the investigation is completed.

The standoff began on Sept. 19 when Nashua Police responded to 21 Hunt Street at about 10:30 p.m. after receiving a complaint that Case had threatened one of his neighbors with a long gun — which Nashua Police said was either a rifle or shotgun — earlier in the evening. It lasted until the early morning hours after the suspect barricaded himself in his home.

The incident concluded about 4 a.m. when Manchester SWAT assisted Nashua Police in apprehending the suspect. No one else was injured in the incident.
