NASHUA, NH — After seeing a comment online that he thought might be an attempt to exploit a child, a Nashua detective used an age regressed photo of a department employee to pretend to have access to a girl, according to court documents.

In mid-November 2020, a detective was monitoring a section of the New Hampshire craigslist site and found an invitation note he thought might be attempting to exploit a child for sexual activity. The invitation involved a man and woman wanting to "hang out" with a girl.

The detective texted the number in the post and "used an online undercover persona of an adult male with access to a 14-year-old female," the report stated.

The detective was also able to identify the owner of the phone number as Justin Elliott, 30, of Pine Hill Road in Ossipee, and compared selfies he was accused of sending to the detective with his driver's license photo, the affidavit said.

During more than three weeks of online communication, the detective accused Elliott of interacting with him and saying that he, not the woman, was interested in the girl, "due to her age." Elliot was accused of asking about physical characteristics and other info including requesting a picture and the detective provided an age regressed photo of a department employee which made her look like a child, the affidavit said.

"Elliott expressed his interest in engaging in sexual activity with the minor female by making statements" about meeting up with the girl and other statements, the affidavit stated.

On Dec. 3, an arrest warrant was issued for Elliott and he was arrested by New Hampshire State Police on Jan. 13 on a single felony count of computer pornography prohibited, a felony.

"During a post-arrest interview, after waiving his Miranda Rights, Elliott made admissions to briefly being interested in having sexual relations with a 14-year-old female and engaging to further those interests," the detective wrote.

Elliott was in Hillsborough County Superior Court South on Friday for a disposition and Monday with his attorney. He is due back in court for an arraignment on Feb. 18.
